Hoof Supervisor 2018 software update release available!

Taking Hoof Supervisor to the Next Level in 2018
“The greatest advantage to getting lameness under control is by keeping good hoof health records to work with... when there is an increase in lameness and/or hoof lesions, the source can usually be discovered more quickly and an action plan implemented. …we will start to see an increase in hoof lesions and severity of the lesions before we see a dramatic increase in lameness. By closely monitoring the hoof health records we can source the factor(s) and resolve the issue before a significant effect on the herd’s overall lameness can occur.”
(Paraphrased from an article by Jamie Sullivan, entitled, “Combine a ‘Team Approach’ With Individual Cow Care to Reach Next Level in Hoof Health”, that appeared in the February 21, 2012 issue of Progressive Dairyman)
Hoof Supervisor™ can provide these records and reports that dairymen and hoof trimmers need, when working together to keep lameness under control.
We have been working hard to provide Hoof Supervisor™ developments that benefit you and your dairy clients one way or another, either in time savings, ease of use or having more useful preventative lameness information available. This level of service we are striving for will allow trimmers and herd managers to easily track and find cows for follow up protocols and rechecks as needed, clean up trim lists by removing untrimmed cows from each session, and look at the projected financial impact of the lameness issues identified for their dairy.
The next level or release version for Hoof Supervisor™ will include abilities to:
1. Assign pen location per cow trimmed
Enter the pen ID or location per cow along with entering the cows’ trimming diagnosis as you are trimming. Having the pen location information will allow herd managers to easily and quickly know where to find the cows needing follow-up protocols and rechecks scheduled.
Create customizable reports now sorting by pen ID
2. Clean up trim lists and Cow History by deleting untrimmed cows at the end of the day
Remove or delete the cows that have been imported on to the trim list but never trimmed during that day or trim session
3. Project the financial impact due to lameness issues for each herd
Provide dairy clients with an estimation of the economic impact of the lameness issues occurring on their dairy.
Help dairies identify and focus on areas causing the most lameness for their dairy.
Justify the costs of improving hoof health protocols, cow comfort or implementing follow up procedures.
Justify the costs of consistent, regularly scheduled, preventative hoof trimming.
4. Breakdown Infectious versus non-infectious projected lameness costs
Utilize easy to read pie charts comparing projected costs of lameness both per lesion and infectious versus non-infectious
In an effort to help improve the efficiencies of both you and your clients, we continue to work with herd management, parlor and robotic equipment companies developing the interfaces to import cow data into Hoof Supervisor and export trim data per cow at the end of day. Having chute side cow data can allow you to make better treatment decisions as you trim. You can also use the information to create customizable reports utilizing pen location, days in milk, lactation, etc. The export function saves the manual entry time for herd managers getting trim data reported with the other health events per cow. The programs we currently can interface both ways with include DRMS or PCDart, uniform-agri, Boumatic Robotics and Dairy Smart as HerdMetrix, Valacta, and PanaZoo.
Herd Management programs that can create the export file for Hoof Supervisor™ include BoviSync, DairyComp, BoviSync, DeLaval’s Delpro, along with others that we will continue to work with and pursue to add to our growing list.
Watch for more details as we round out 2018 and begin 2019! Some have been anticipated, talked about for a long time. We will keep you updated as the progress unfolds.
We want to once again thank you for your Hoof Supervisor™ business and support! We do appreciate working with you, for you, and the feedback you provide.
Have a great fall, busy with trimming cows!
